Issue: Application 10 used and part is a Legacy Spare Part

Application Code 10 Vulcanising agent and stabiliser for elastomers in fluid handling and powertrain applications is used. This application code covers three ELV, Annex II exemptions: 7(a), 7(b), and 7(c).  All of those exemptions can only be used for Legacy Spare Parts and each of the exemptions has a different exipiry date.  This makes using Code 10 correctly a bit of a challenge.  You may or may not be able to use Code 10 depending on the following factors:

  • the amount of Pb present in your material;
  • what the Pb is used for in the material;
  • what type of part the material is used in; AND
  • the status of your part: New or Legacy.
