Issue: Material is classified as 8.2
The IMDS material classification 8.2 Electrics is no longer allowed for materials. In order to parallel the material classification requirements for the EU’s SCIP database (More info here: https://echa.europa.eu/scip), the 8.1 classification has been eliminated. This means that any MDSs which contain materials classified as 8.1, must be revised and updated to use the appropriate material classifications.
IMDS Recommendation 001A states that classification 8.2 can still be used for legacy data. Legacy data is data for MDSs marked as Legacy Spare Parts. Legacy data does NOT mean current production part data created prior to the May 19, 2021 release of version 13 of IMDS. Current production part data is anticipated to be imported into the EU’s SCIP database. The SCIP database does not include a material classification to which the IMDS 8.1 classification could be mapped. For this reason, 8.1 cannot be used in current data.
Action Required:
Review the material classification and revise as necessary.
