Issue: Difference between calculated weight and measured weight is too large
IMDS has a built in tolerance for component weights. The measured weight and the calculated weight must agree within the built-in tolerance. The tolerances are listed below.
| Measured weight per item | Allowed maximum deviation between measured weight and calculated weight |
| wt < 1g | 100% |
| 1g ≥ wt < 100g | 10% |
| 100g ≥ wt < 1kg | 5% |
| 1kg ≥ wt < 10kg | 2% |
| 10g ≥ wt < 100 kg | 1% |
| wt ≥ 100 kg | 0.5% |
The deviation between the calculated and measured weights for your part is too large. Common causes for a deviation issue include the following:
- Typographical error in a measured weight entry in the tree structure. For example, you typed 0.01 when you meant to type 0.001 or 1 when you meant to type 10.
- Incorrect measured weight entry in the tree structure.
- Incorrect quantity entry in the tree structure.
Action Required:
Review the deviation, revise and resubmit.
If one of the exemptions in the rules applies, call your customer to discuss.
