Issue: Material contains substance in the basic substance group Chk: Spec.metals w/o Fe,Al,Mg,Ti,Cu,Zn,Ni,Pb,Pt,Rh and the classification is not appropriate
This material contains 50% or more of substances in the basic substance group Chk: Sp. metals w/o Cu,Ni,Pb,Zn. The material in question is not classified correctly. Appropriate classifications for a material with this much of these substances are
- 4.2 Other special metals
- 6.2 Adhesives, sealants
- 7.2 Ceramics / glass
- 7.3 Other compounds (e.g. friction linings)
- 8.1 Electronics (e.g. pc boards, displays)
- 8.2 Electrics
Classifications 8.1 and 8.2 are only valid for legacy data. In this context, legacy data does not refer to data associated with Legacy Spare Parts. The IMDS Steering Committee members do not have a unanimous agreement on the definition of “legacy” within the context of IMDS Recommendation 001a.* Determining what constitutes legacy is considered a decision made between businesses. Most OEMs consider legacy data to be data created before the implementation of the EU SCIP database on January 1, 2021. To adhere to best practices, it is recommended that MDSs for new Post-SCIP components, semi-components, or materials should not include any pre-SCIP MDSs or modules in their tree structure.
More information about material classification is available in IMDS Recommendation 001a.*
You can check for the groups a substance belongs to by highlighting the substance in the tree structure.

Action Required:
Review the material composition and classification and revise as necessary.
